The position of the Polish Men’s Volleyball National Team head coach seems very appealing to many world famous experts after Ferdinando De Giorgi was sacked by the Polish Federation (PZPS), a few months ago. One name has suddenly appeared as the candidate!

According to the „Przegląd Sportowy“, the 53-year-old Argentine expert from Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei, Marcelo Méndez, is one of the most serious candidates to claim the empty position of the Polish National Team head coach.

Six domestic coaches were called by the PZPS to submit the application for the job of the Polish NT head coach. At the moment, five of them remained in the race: Piotr Gruszka, Jakub Bednaruk, Andrzej Kowal, Mariusz Sordyl and Robert Prygiel. Krzysztof Stelmach decided not to apply.

As for the foreign coaches, an Italian Andrea Giani did not respond to the call of the PZPS so, before the name of Méndez appeared, the Belgian Vital Heynen was the only official candidate from abroad to take over the Polish NT.
