As we already analyzed, only winning the gold medal in the CEV Champions League pays off for the contestants and that is exactly the fact Skra and Zaksa presidents emphasized while talking to Polsat Sport journalist.
“If we sum it up, there’s absolutely no chance of getting back even to zero. The amount of 50,000 euros is raised only by the team who wins the Champions League. Costs, costs and again costs. Not to mention the penalties, which supervisors can drastically impose on clubs for misconduct. Also, you should count long-distance travels to this, which we had this season – all the way to Novosibirsk,” PGE Skra Bełchatów president Konrad Piechocki stated.
In addition to the costs which are officially predicted for the CEV Champions League participants, Polsat Sport reminded on the fact the profits from advertising placed in the gymnasium mainly go into the CEV cash register. The club pays its own ticket for flights (CEV prohibits flights with cheap airlines, which causes additional costs) and hotels.
“The Champions League is, above all, a great experience and the opportunity to show up in Europe, but for me as the president, it is a great expense. Nobody hides it,” Sebastian Świderski, the president of Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle, said.
