The men’s pre-season tournament that was supposed to bring back the volleyball life in Russia has been canceled due to positive results for coronavirus at some of the payers of the organizing club Zenit-Kazan.

The pre-season tournament in Kazan, the Victory Cup, scheduled for August 24 – 26, has been canceled although everything was ready for it to be held.

The training and match schedule has already been drawn up, the hall has been disinfected, all transport schemes have been determined, and issues with broadcasting matches on the TV have been resolved. But, regular tests for COVID-19 that revealed primary positive results in two members of the hosting club Zenit-Kazan ruined these plans. In order to eliminate the risk of infection for players and coaches, the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VFV) and Zenit made a joint decision to cancel the tournament that was to gather Russian National Team, Lokomotiv, Zenit, and Kuzbass.

It’s unknown which two players have the coronavirus.
