The former captain of the Canada Men’s Volleyball National Team, John Gordon Perrin has returned to Lokomotiv Novosibirsk.
Lokomotiv signed 33-year-old Canadian outside hitter Perrin just before the Russian transfer window closed, according to BO Sport. The former captain of his country’s national team already played for the current PARI Superliga vice-champions last season, which was his third club in Russia after Belogorie Belgorod (2018-19) and Ural Ufa (2020-21). In the off-season of 2022, Perrin moved to Italy’s WithU Verona but couldn’t win a place in the line-up there, scoring only 13 points in 15 matches in the SuperLega Credem Banca. It resulted in a contract termination.
Earlier, the head coach of Lokomotiv, Plamen Konstantinov, said that “four foreigners refused to move to Lokomotiv for political reasons.“ The Novosibirsk side was forced to seek reinforcement in the outside hitter’s position given that two players who are in this role, Sergey Savin and Aleksey Rodichev, haven’t played since the beginning of the season due to injuries.
