Kubiak and Sokolov
HalkBank was without Osmany Juantorena on this match, and his absence could be felt already at the start. Arkas won the first two sets and was heading toward the straight set knock-out of the champion. But, squad of Lorenzo Bernardi was not down yet.
HalkBank tied the game at 2-2, mostly thanks to the amazing performance of Tsvetan Sokolov and Michal Kubiak and the game went into the tie-break. There, Arkas was the first one to collect two-point advantage – 11:9, but HalkBank again managed to return and equalize the game at 13:13, then to save couple of match balls and finally to collect the valuable win.
Sokolov was the top scorer of the match with 26 points, while Kubiak added 20. In the home side Gavin Schmitt made 18 points, Kevin Tillie and Gordon Perrin collected 12 each.
