While the eyes of avolleyball world were set on Eurovolley, terrorist attack occured in Turkish city of Ankara that killed 102 people. This caused great concern of the Polish outside hitter Michał Kubiak. He was affraid for him and his family, because he has extended contract with Halkbank for this season.
„I had second thoughts whether to go back to Ankara. However, I decided that I will continue to play there. I flew to Ankara on Sunday and on Monday, I had my first training. The streets are calm, people are living normally. There is no psychosis of fear. I hope that nothing will happen,” Kubiak admitted.
He was not the only player that wanted to leave Turkey due to bomb attack in Ankara. Puerto Rican female player Karina Ocasio decided not to return to her her club.
