USA vs. Russia
Russian team now nurtures the hope of Brazilian victory against USA in penultimate round, but if Americans reach the tie-break in that clash, they will remain on top.
Of course, all under the assumption that Russia beats its rival, the national team of China.
Interestingly, USA and Russia were almost equal in every segment of the game, with the slight advantage of Americans in successful spikes (61-55) and aces (8-5).
Karsta Lowe placed 22 points for the USA with Kimberly Hill adding 15.
Just like in the previous game between two teams in group stage of the competition, Nataliya Goncharova was the highlight in Russia with 29 points, She was followed with 11 from Ekaterina Lyubushkina and Alexandra Pasynkova.
