Anne Buijs, a renowned volleyball player from the Netherlands, is is the new reinforcement of Igor Gorgonzola Novara for the 2023/2024 season. This move marks her third time competing in Italy, having previously played for Busto Arsizio (2013/2014) and Monza (2018/2019).
Buijs, born in 1991, initially made a name for herself in Belgium’s Asterix Kieldrecht and Germany’s Schweriner (2011-2013). Her Italian A1 league debut coincided with Igor Volley’s entry into the elite ranks of the sport.
The Dutch athlete’s impressive career has led her around the globe, with notable stops at Baku, Istanbul’s Vakifbank, Brazil’s league, and Turkey’s Nilufer. Her triumphant return to Italy saw her clinch the Challenge Cup with Monza as the Most Valuable Player. After a year with THY Istanbul, Buijs headed back to Brazil and played three remarkable seasons with Praia Clube.
Buijs’s trophy cabinet is a testament to her prowess, housing 9 league titles, 7 national cups, and 5 Super Cups won across the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Turkey, and Brazil. Her accolades also include 2 South American club championships and a Challenge Cup victory with Monza in 2019.
