Formerly a captain and setter for Belgium, Heynen boasts a distinguished coaching career. He guided the German men’s team to a fifth-place finish at the London Olympics and earned a bronze medal at the 2014 World Championship. Additionally, he led the Polish men’s national team to a World Championship victory and a runner-up position in the World Cup. Heynen also served as the head coach of the German women’s national team but recently resigned from this role unexpectedly.

The 31st-ranked Chinese team looks to rebuild after failing to qualify for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
