The Italian Volleyball League decided to organize the final of the next men’s Super Cup outdoors.

The final of the 2020/21 Italian men’s Super Cup (Del Monte® Supercoppa) will be played outdoors, at the Arena di Verona, on September 25. The Italian Volleyball League (Lega Pallavolo Serie A) thus has chosen a sensational setting for the first official volleyball competition in the country of the next season, which brings the sport back to this Roman amphitheater after 32 years.

The Arena di Verona mostly held award-winning ceremonies and fashion shows in recent years. As for volleyball, no match has been played within its walls since the encounter between the United States and the Soviet Union in 1988. The number of available places at the stands of the Arena di Verona is 15,000, which was the maximum of people attending concerts and operas.

Prior to the final, the best four ranked teams during the 2019/20 SuperLega regular season will play the round-robin semifinals (September 13 and September 20): Cucine Lube Civitanova vs. Itas Trentino and Leo Shoes Modena vs. Sir Safety Conad Perugia.

Recall that there was an idea to play the women’s Super Cup final outdoors as well but it has been discarded for now.
