Delecta-team

Delecta – team

What is the essence of Delecta? You do not have the big names in the team, a smaller budget than ZAKSA and Wegiel, and yet still remain at the top of PlusLiga?

–  It’s not a phenomenon. It’s a third season we are playing in the same composition, only cosmetic changes have taken place – it is of great importance. What else? Our strength is our team spirit, although we have one big star – Stephane Antiga. Stephane shows his greatness on the field, a very good game. Off the pitch he is a normal guy, never, in no way gives a sense that he is something more than the others.

To talk about Antiga. On the pitch he is always focused, serious. Meanwhile, I hear that he is a joker.

When someone sees Stephane only during matches, he would probably think that it is quiet, subdued and silent. Nothing could be further from the truth. In training he is the first for jokes.

A few days ago, Lorenzo Bernardi told that he liked Delecta’s style of play, especially for the fact that you play with the ball, not for the ball.

We are a group of players who like to play with the ball. We, of course, have some trained patterns, but we always try to adapt to the situation on the pitch, change something.

You are creating a collective, you’re together after the victory, and after the defeats.

I can not imagine it any other way. We need to be together. We can not pat ourselves on the back and praise one another only if things are going well.

Once, as a joke you danced like Michael Jackson. What else do you do to maintain your “team spirit“?

We did it just because we’re a cool group, and not in order to create it. The idea came spontaneously and there is nothing to be added. Whatever we do, it’s not in order to impress the fans and show how cool we are, but because someone had the spontaneous idea and the rest of us picked up.

Let me return for a moment to your performance in the CEV Cup. What exactly happened in the rematch in Ankara?

Indeed, at home we won confidently, but it is fair to say that in the rematch our opponents played much better.

You will play in the Challenge Cup. You will find the motivation to fight in this European cup?

Of course! Cup is a cup. We wanted to play in the cup and we will try to get as far as possible. If we maintain this level, as in the recent games, then I think we have a good chance.

Your first opponent is from Israel. Are you going to go there?

We offered to play both meetings in.  Safety is most important.

And the Polish Cup, are you also going to fight?

We will give our best. While the winner will not play in the Champions League, so the prestige of the cup is now smaller, but we will fight to win.
