Men’s volleyball in the Philippines trots behind the women’s when it comes to popularity but rallies like this might help it improve itself...

Collegiate competitions (under the UAAP – University Athletics Association of the Philippines), including volleyball, are highly popular in the Philippines. Women’s more than the men’s.

But, if men’s teams continue to score points like the one Ateneo de Manila University libero Manuel Sumanguid scored in the game against the University of the Philippines, things could go the other way around. Also, kudos to his teammate Marck Espejo for the defensive effort that led him to collide with the statisticians’ table!
