VK Dukla Liberec beat ČEZ Karlovarsko in the grand finale of the 2018 Czech cup in Svitavy after trailing in sets twice – 3-2 (17-25, 25-14, 24-26, 25-21, 15-13).

„This was probably the hardest possible match for us this year. The team from Karlovy Vary played fantastically. They were able to pressure us through the service and pushed us to the fifth set. I salute my boys, they left everything on the court. It was a great match from both sides,“ said Liberec coach Michal Nekola after the match.

Interestingly, Liberec simply adore competing in the national cup as they missed the final only three times in the last 13 years. As for Karlovarsko, they fell on the ultimate step before winning the trophy for the second year in a row.

An experienced opposite Jan Štokr topped Liberec with 29 points. Filip Rejlek scored 22 points for Karlovarsko.
