The top-seed Speedball Chekka retained the title in the Lebanese championship by beating No.2 Al Zahra Al Mina Tripoli in a decisive Game 5 of the 2017/18 playoff finals in the tie-break, partially 22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 23 25, 15-8.
In the hellish atmosphere in front of 5,000 spectators at Speedball’s home ground Hamat, the opposite from the Dominican Republic, José Cáceres, showed an outstanding display with 39 points, including 7 aces! Adam Khoury added 4 kill blocks. In Zahra, the Cuban outside hitter Sirianis Hernández delivered 29 points (5 aces). Cristian Assaf made 4 kill blocks.
The Lebanese Volleyball Federation named Ashlei Tanios, the outside hitter of Speedball, the Most Valuable Player of the finals.
