Rookies Igtisadchi hope to perform their best as they play titleholders VakifBank who are also the gold medallists from the 2013 FIVB Club World Championship held in Zurich last October. Igtisadchi will also try to seize the night by exploiting the absence of Serbia’s superstar Jovana Brakočević, who recently got injured and won’t be able to perform in Baku.
“Our first goal in this competition was to make it through the prelims which is something that we eventually did” says Igtisadchi head coach Bülent Karslioglu. “This result is great because this is only our first appearance in the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League. The more experience we get from the coming matches with VakifBank, the better. There are many other teams that would like to have that same privilege and it is great that two teams from Azerbaijan made it among the top 12 in Europe. Our goal is to improve and be successful” he continues. “The strength of VakifBank is known to everyone. They haven’t lost a game for a very long time. We want to do our best and achieve a good result by showing our best game. I can only say that this will be a great match and all Volleyball fans here in Baku will be very happy with it” Karslioglu concludes.
