The 2012 London Olympics winner with the Brazil women’s volleyball National Team, Tandara Caixeta, won the lawsuit against her former club Dentil/Praia Clube for pregnancy-related rights.

Tandara became the first-ever athlete in Brazil to seek justice for labor rights related to motherhood and – she achieved an important victory in the fight for women’s rights in sport! The Superior Labor Court (TST) of Brazil ruled in favor of the one-time Olympic winner in her case against a former club Praia.

In December 2014, the opposite hitter became pregnant and started receiving the salary that was reduced by as many as 99.5%. The Uberlândia club then didn’t renew the player’s contract, which ended on May 31, 2015. The amount of the sentence Praia need to pay to Tandara, however, is yet to be determined because the club still can try to find some inconsistency in the process in order to appeal.

Tandara will play for Osasco/Audax next season.
