Fiat/Gerdau/Minas trampled over Vôlei Renata (Campinas) in the final of the 2022 Brazilian Men’s Volleyball Cup and took the trophy in the competition for the first time ever.
The jubilee 10th edition of the Men’s Copa Brasil ended with the final victory of Minas, who took the trophy in the competition for the first time in club history. The Belo Horizonte side hasn’t been on the top of the podium in any of the competitions since 2007 (Superliga champions), so taking the national cup ended their 15-year drought.
In a dominant performance in Blumenau, the team commanded by Nery Tambeiro swept the surprising finalists Campinas (beat Sada Cruzeiro 3-2 in the semis), partially 25-18, 25-15, and 25-21. With the conquest of Copa Brasil, Minas secured a place in the next country’s Super Cup (against the champions of the 2021/22 Superliga) and in the 2022 South American Club Championship.
