Cruzeiro vs. Kirin
After a thrilling match of 20th round played at Cruzeiro’s court, the Brazilian champions still have not confirmed pole position in regular stage as their closest rivals Funvic/ Taubaté also achieved win. Cruzeiro have 51 points against 46 from Taubaté, but in the next, penultimate, round Cruzeiro will have the chance to secure first place for the playoffs.
Fortunately for Cruzeiro’s fans, the Cuban Yoandy Leal was ready to play after suffering injury in previous round and ended the match with 16 points. He was the second best scorer in his team behind Wallace Souza (17).
But, Leal showed some signs of nervousness as he verbally confronted with Kirin’s player Maurício Luiz de Souza while they were greeting on the net, after the game. Lucas Lóh topped Kirin’s scorers with 21 points.
Funvic/Taubaté recovered from a defeat suffered in previous round in derby against Cruzeiro and prevailed over home team of Lebes/Gedore/Canoas in straight sets, partially 23-25, 23-25, 23-25.
Final result might trick those who did not watch the game because it was all but not an easy win for the favorites. Game duration proves the claim completely – it lasted for almost two hours!
The Cuban Yadier Sánchez Sierra had 17 points in Taubaté while his compatriot Ángel Dennis scored same amount of points on the other side.
The most efficient player of the round was from Bento Vôlei/Isabela – Rodrigo Pinto ’Rivaldo’. He scored 24 points in the win of his team against direct playoff rivals Minas Tênis Clube 3-1. Now, both teams, along with two other, remained in the race for places from sixth to eighth which secure participation in the playoffs.
