The latest reinforcement of Maringá is a three-time FIVB World League winner with the Brazilian NT, Thiago Alves. A 30-year-old receiver came from Italian Serie A1 side Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia.
Brazilian club set off transfer activities by securing, probably, the most important player for the next season. Veteran setter Ricardo Garcia ’Ricardinho’, the 2004 Olympic Games winner, two-time FIVB World Championship title holder and five-time FIVB World League gold medalist, renewed the contract.
After Ricardinho, the receiver Matheus Secco, middle blocker Aureliano da Silva and setter Elder Coutinho did the same.
As for newcomers, before Thiago, Maringá hired middle blockers Ialisson de Amorim (Lebes/Gedore/Canoas), Rodrigo Leitzke (Sesi-SP) and Wennder Lopes (Bento Vôlei/Isabela), liberos Gian de Morais ’Gianzinho’ (Montes Claros Vôlei) and Daniel Rossi (Bento Vôlei/Isabela), setter Matheus Brasília (São Bernardo Vôei) and receiver Kaio Silvestre (Sesi-SP).
