Shadow over Sesc’s win vs. Taubaté: Linesman makes huge oversight, first ref doesn’t make correction! (VIDEO)

Sesc-RJ beat EMS Taubaté Funvic in a derby of Round 12 in the Brazilian Men’s Volleyball Championship Superliga, last night, but...

The win of Sesc was clear but Taubaté’s fans can’t stop asking themselves one question – would this game go the other way if the linesman did not make an oversight at 23-23 in the second set? Namely, the ball was visibly out of bounds on the serve of Sesc’s player Maurício Borges. Still, the linesman showed it was in and umpire accepted it. Taubaté players, as well as their coach Daniel Castellani, were furious at the first ref, but he did not want to change his call and Taubaté had no more video challenges at their disposal.

As a result of all of this, one of Taubaté players received a red card, most likely the setter Raphael Oliveira ’Rapha’, and the set was over – 25-23 for Sesc, who won the third set as well for a three-point win that pushed them on the top of the rankings.
