Narbonne Volley wrote the brand new chapter of their club history by advancing to the final of the 2022 CEV Men’s Volleyball Challenge Cup.
This Tuesday evening, France’s Narbonne Volley achieved a historic result. They lost to Slovenia’s ACH Volley Ljubljana (2-3) in the second leg of the semi-finals of the CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup 2022 | Men after winning the first 2 sets. However, the victory (3-2) achieved in the first leg last week allowed the ‘Centurions’ to compete, in front of their supporters, in the Golden Set, which they won with a score of 15-9. This is an unprecedented result for Narbonne, which has never played in a European final before. Brazilian Rafael Rodrigues de Araújo put down 30 points on the winning side. Argentine Nicolás Zerba made as many as 9 blocks.
Narbonne will face Turkey’s Halkbank Ankara, who eliminated Greece’s Panathinaikos AC Athens. The club from the capital of Turkey didn’t even need to win today as taking 2 sets in the rematch on the road was quite enough for qualifying for the gold medal encounter of the third-tier European club competition.
