CEV CUP W: Hungarian champions Békéscsabai first to advance to quarterfinals

Linamar-Békéscsabai RSE is the first team to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2017 Women’s Volleyball CEV Cup.

Hungarian champions and current leaders in the national league with 17-0 achieved a 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 25-9) win over French side Béziers in the second leg of the 8th Finals, repeating the result from the first match.

Thus, Békéscsabai became the first time to qualify for the quarterfinals where they will play winners of Minchanka (Belarus) – Yamamay Busto Arsizio (Italy) clash. Busto achieved a clear 3-0 win in the first leg.

Gréta Szakmáry and Russian Irina Smirnova topped Békéscsabai’s scorers with 16 points each, while a teenage sensation from Sweden Isabelle Haak had 19 points for Béziers.
