In Pool A Germany expectedly outplayed Mexico in straight sets (25-19, 25-17, 25-22) and secured their spot for the next stage of the competition.
Louisa Lippmann was the best scorer of the winning team with 16 points while Andrea Rangel led Mexico with 18 points but unfortunately without many successes.
In Pool B, Canada lost the first set against a young team of Cuba and after that, they made serious changes in their play and finished match 3-1 (16-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-20).
Brianna Beamish was the best scorer with 16 points followed by Alexa Lea Gray 15 points while Diaris Perez Ramos and Laura Beatriz Suarez Hernandez scored 12 points each for Cuba.
After this win, Canada still have a chance to continue with the competition but for now, they are with Cuba on the bottom of the standings.
In Pool C, Russia outplayed South Korea who this year don’t play as we are used to watching them.
Mighty Russia were without mercy although the opponents from Asia played very good in the first set. Nataliya Goncharova was unstoppable with 2 4points while Kseniia Parubets scored 10 points. On the Korean side, Jeongah Park scored 18 points while Kim Yeon Koung 12 points.
Russia confirmed the next stage of the competition while Korea will leave Japan after tomorrow’s match.
Serbia are the leader of Pool D. Today they crushed Kazakhstan with 3-0 and Milena Rasic was the best scorer with 17 points including 3 blocks. Tijana Boskovic was the second best scorer of the team with 12 points. In the opponent’s side, Yana Petrenko scored 7 points and Yekatarina Zhdanova only 6 points.
Serbia will play in the second stage while Kazakhstan will go home.
