China have scored the second win in a row in the women’s Volleyball Nations League while Brazil have recovered after losing to the USA in the previous round.
China defeated Germany at the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Nations League on Monday, despite being pushed to a fifth set. The reigning Olympic champions were led by their captain Zhang Changning on 23 points.
“I think that today’s match was good, but I think that there were some things we could do better. The most important for this victory was that we defended well and that gave us many chances to attack. We also blocked very well,” says Yao Di.
The top scorer in Germany Hanna Orthmann had also 23 points.
Brazil scored their third win in four games at the 2021 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League with a 3-0 sweep of Japan, handing the Asian side their first defeat in the tournament and knocking them off the top of the standings.
“It was a really important match for us in getting the three points. It’s always difficult to play against Japan. They are not a tall team, but they have a lot of technique, they play really quick and we know how difficult it is to play against them. Today we served well and played well in block and defense and that’s the biggest point for us. Our defense worked really well today, we could work in our transition very good and also our attack was amazing, our setter Macris could use almost everyone and Fe Garay was really good in our attack. Brazil need to play like that, we need to play all the tactics – block, defense, serve, set, attack with quality and we did it today, so I’m really proud of my team,” says Gabi Guimaraes.
