Belgium had the lead in sets of 1-0 against Italy today and a set point at 26-25 in the second set. After the unsuccessful tip-over of the Italian setter Alessia Orro, the Belgians started to celebrate getting a two-set advantage. Their joy was replaced with disbelief a couple of seconds later. The ball didn’t touch the floor, and the Italian players kept playing. Monica De Gennaro sent the ball over the net to the corner of the Belgian side of the court: 26-26.
Soon afterward, the European champions took the set and tied the match at 1-1, ultimately winning the encounter…
