“Our team spirit made the difference” said middle-blocker Gérald Hardy-Dessources.
“We really played as a team and this match we played against Poland showed the importance of sticking together” he continued. “It seems that this excellent team spirit was easy to spot. We did not make that many changes to our starting six and we played well, so we can be satisfied with what we have accomplished tonight”.
Still France had a short black-out in the third set where Poland was able to bring it home with a relatively comfortable 25-20. “That was not good, I think this is the sole regret I have. We lost focus and started making mistakes. The most important thing, however, is that in the end we won” he added.
With two wins France has already booked a spot in the next round waiting to know which team they will get to play. “We do not have any special wishes when it comes to our opponent for the next round” said Hardy-Dessources. “It could even be Russia. What really matters to me is that we play well. On Sunday we cross our ways with Turkey and we want to win so as to finish first in our group. After that, we will start thinking about the road to the semis”.
