“Our mission is to get some points from this home game in order to have a small chance to stay in the race and get out of our pool,” says Yan Fang, the Chinese-born mentor of the French team. “At this stage, each and every match is extremely important for us. Our team needs to rapidly raise its level and we have to improve our collective effectiveness. I expect my players to fight for each and every point, both defensively and offensively.”
“We know Uralochka-NTMK EKATERINBURG very well,” he continues. “They finished the last edition of the Russian national league in third place. The level of their national championship is always very high and it stands as a reference in Europe. It’s a team which includes many excellent players, who are very tall and physically gifted. We also know that they defeated Vizura BEOGRAD by 3:0 in the last round, and the Serbians beat us in three sets too. So, the odds are really against us. But this is not what matters. What matters is actually our fighting spirit, our cohesion as a team and also the quality of our reception, which will be the pre-condition to build our offensive game.”
