Guillermo-Gallardo

Guillermo Gallardo

Mr. Gallardo, you have worked for eight years as a youth and head coach for Rote Raben VILSBIBURG. On Saturday it could be yout last day of work with Rote Raben?

We still hope that we can turn this semifinal series in our favor. I think positive and still believe in victory in Dresden.

How satisfied are you with the time you spent with Rote in total?

This was my best experience as a coach. In the six years in which I was the head coach, we were extremely successful, have brought two league titles, a Cup, were successful in the European Cup. Those were fantastic years, I can only say good things about VILSBIBURG. I have worked with competent people and built a cohesive team from the start. I thank Klaus-Peter Jung (longtime managing partner in VILSBIBURG, since the beginning of the season the new Managing Director of the German Volleyball League) that in 2007 he had the confidence in me to put me as head coach of VILSIBURG and all others who contributed to the success here.

What are the reasons for your leaving the club?

The main reason was that Klaus-Peter Jung has left the club. I came here because of him and stayed here. It is necessary that the new leaders work with the new coach to push a new process in Vilsbiburg and that fresh air comes into the club. I am going to Switzerland and after two or three years I can eventually come back to Germany.

Are you pleased with the current season?

I am overall very pleased with the progress this season. However, we can lose against any team if we do not have a good day. But in the worst case, we are third. Six consecutive years, we have always reached at least third place – this is a real success. But the series is not over yet!

What is important to win in Dresden and thus force a play-off?

We weren’t good in the first semi-final. We havn’t only lacked the courage, but also the necessary aggressiveness and quality. We need to change much in a short time, but I am very confident that the team will present much better.

How do you rate Dresdner SC this season?

In my opinion it is a candidate to at last win the championship. But again, we are going to Dresden to win. We have to strive much need courage and a fantastic performance.
