In an electrifying volleyball match that belied the 3-0 scoreline, VC Wiesbaden triumphed over their rivals Rote Raben in Vilsbiburg. A packed crowd of 1,468 at the Ballsporthalle witnessed a battle of nerves and skill, with each set stretching beyond the usual limits.
The opening set was a tight affair. VC Wiesbaden initially took the lead, but couldn’t quite dominate. Rote Raben, trailing 13-17, found new momentum following a timeout, evening the score at 18-all. In a nail-biting finish, Rote Raben squandered three set points from 24-22, allowing Wiesbaden to snatch the set 26-28.
The second set saw roles reversed, with Rote Raben setting the pace. However, VC Wiesbaden clung on tenaciously, erasing deficits at 19-16 to level at 21-21. The set reached a fever pitch as Rote Raben failed to capitalize on five consecutive set points from 24-23. In a dramatic twist, Wiesbaden grabbed their first opportunity to win the set 28-30.
The final set offered a change in dynamics but not in the outcome. Wiesbaden surged ahead 6-13, only for Rote Raben to fight back and level at 23-23. However, VC Wiesbaden had the final say, sealing the match with a 24-26 win in the third set for a remarkable 0-3 victory.
