VfB Friedrichshafen kicked off their 2024/25 Bundesliga campaign with a decisive 3-0 (31-29, 25-23, 25-16) victory over ASV Dachau. Despite a shaky start, Friedrichshafen found their rhythm as the match progressed, with standout performances from captain Marcus Böhme and 21-year-old Nazar Hetman, who impressed with a 70% attack efficiency.
The match initially saw Friedrichshafen struggle in attack, allowing Dachau to build an early lead (17-21). However, a fierce comeback led by Savonsalmi and Hetman helped the team recover, with Hetman sealing the first set 31-29 with a clutch attack.
In the second set, Friedrichshafen improved further, with Böhme’s all-around play—serving aces, blocking, and attacking—making the difference. Setter Markos Galiotos, newly cleared to play, distributed well to outside hitters Zeljkovic and Hetman, who capitalized on their opportunities. Friedrichshafen held on to win the set 25-23.
The third set saw Friedrichshafen take full control, powered by a dominant performance from Hetman at the net. Dachau struggled to keep up, and the match was sealed 25-16.
“After an emotional League Cup, it wasn’t easy to play well today,” said head coach Adam Swaczyna. “We made many mistakes but still secured the 3-0 win. Now we rest and prepare for Giesen.”
