“Rain” of bottles in Greece again, Gomez in clash with PAO fans (VIDEO)

by WoV

Too much passion from Greek fans can create a fantastic atmosphere, but can also be a trigger for shameful events…

We all remember the game between Olympiacos and PAOK when fans of Piraeus team were responsible for one of the worst incidents in the recent history of volleyball. Unfortunately, it has happened again. And, once more, players of PAOK were targets.

In the third match of the semi-final series of the Greek Playoffs, fans of Panathinaikos interrupted the game, because they were furious about one referee’s call. They started throwing various objects on the court, so even the main referee had to abandon his chair. Ernando Gomez, player of PAOK, started arguing with Panathinaikos fans, and kicked one bottle which was on the floor. Luckily, the atmosphere calmed down and the game continued.

Panathinaikos won the game by 3-2, however, PAOK won the fourth match by 3-0 and tied the overall score at 2-2 in wins. The fifth and decisive game will be played in Thessaloniki, and PAOK will be the host.
