The second-seed P.A.O.K. advanced to their fourth consecutive Volleyleague playoff finals (won previous three) and will fight for the 2017/18 title with No.1 Olympiacos S.F.P.
The Thessaloniki side prevailed in a tie-breaker against third-seed A.O. Foinikas Syros in Game 3, partially 18-25, 25-22, 25-18, 21-25, 15-11, to close the series of the semifinals with a sweep. The Bulgarian Nikolay Uchikov topped PAOK with 29 points. Rafael Koumentakis served 5 aces, while Ioannis Takouridis made 5 kill blocks. Uchikov’s compatriot Boyan Yordanov scored 19 points for Foinikas, while Tasos Gatsis added 4 kill blocks.
The top-seed Olympiacos S.F.P. had an easy job in the semifinals against No.5 A.O.P. Kifisias, clinching all three games in straight sets. The Finnish Mikko Oivanen and German Marcus Böhme delivered 14 points apiece for the winning side in Game 3. The Canadian Taylor Hunt scored 15 points for Kifisias, while Bahamian Shonari Hepburn recorded 4 kill blocks.
The best-of-five playoff finals will start on May 3 with Olympiacos having a home-court advantage.
