This is a welcome return, because the memories and emotions experienced at the helm of Padova are still in his heart. Luigi “Gigi” Schiavon was born on March 11, 1951 in Padova. His career as a head coach in A2 series begins in the 1983 season at Treviso System.
In 1992 he made his debut in A1 as assistant to Silvano Prandi in Padova and from there began a long period at Padova, which took him to the post of the head coach in 1997/98.
How does it feel to return Padova? “I am happy that the company has tried. Despite the passing years my desire for volleyball has never passed, regardless of the place where I worked. But I must confess that Padua is a special place and coming back here is a great pleasure. The PalaFabris has been my second home, so I’m excited to meet this new adventure. “
Is it an advantage to know this place? “There are many people I’ve worked with in the past, from sporting director Stefano Santuz. Also in the past I have talked several times with Paul Montagnani and he has always praised the coaching staff with whom he worked. I know that this team is full of professionalism and it is admirable that – despite the difficult time of the Italian Volleyball – there’s a company like this, committed to a solid project. “
