In the first out of two matches, Igor Gorgonzola Novara outplayed Il Bisonte Firenze with 3-1 (25-20, 25-15, 24-26, 25-16) although the match could finish much earlier. (photos from the match)
Of course, Paola Egonu was the main scorer of the winning team with 27 points while Celeste Plak finished the match with 14 points and Cristina Chirichella with 13 points. Indre Sorokaite added 15 points for Firenze.
In the second quarterfinal match of the day, UYBA suffered defeat in front of home spectators. Saugella Team Monza outplayed them in four sets (19-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-23) but the two last sets were equal so the match even could finish with another result.
Experience Serena Ortolani led her team with 28 points while Edina Begić scored 18 points. On the other side, Michelle Bartsch scored 18 points and Valentina Diouf 14 points for UYBA.
The next matches are on scheduled for March 25 if the third matches are needed, they are scheduled for March 28.
