The North American team had already arrived on August 16 to Izmir to prepare for the prestigious event where they were drawn in Pool C along with Serbia, USA, Tunisia and Rwanda.

Canada’s head coach Dave Preston said that they are working hard as much as possible because some of players experience their first international championship.

We have been training since June. We had a chance to play friendly match against Mexico and Russia, but that is not enough to gain experience,”

Preston stated that they don’t have big expectations but they want to see they want to see the players improving.

“Some of my players didn’t play at a big level till now, and I want to learn a lot about them to continue their national carriers”.

He is thinking that teams in Izmir are very strong and can be favorites for the medals.

“There are really strong teams such as Russia, USA, Brazil and Serbia. We had a chance to see Tunisia; they are really well prepared and well coached. Pool C looks very balanced. The only team I don’t have information about is Rwanda but I know that they are really excited to be here. I’m sure Izmir will see great volleyball during the championship”.

Canada is playing their eighth edition at this age category and their best performance was the 5th position in 1999.
