by WoV

This Saturday Poland’s champions Atom Trefl SOPOT will be playing PGNiG Nafta PILA in the national league and even though their opponents are currently ranked at the bottom of the standing, SOPOT is going to take this game very seriously.

“We shall not forget that PILA beat Siodemka LEGIONOWO, a team that had previously edged Impel WROCLAW and we did lose to Impel in straight sets last week” recalls SOPOT head coach Teun Buijs. And after losing to WROCLAW in straight sets, SOPOT needs a good result to get back on track also in the national league. “My players can surely perform better than they did last week in Wroclaw. We have watched this game again and we could realize what went wrong there. We are preparing for the match with PILA and want to play our best there” the Dutch mentor continues.

Nafta PILA is an easy opponent but only on paper especially after they beat Siodemka, the only team that edged WROCLAW so far this season.“In this league everything is possible” Buijs comments shortly.

“There were some surprises in our league so far and I am sure that our straight loss in Wroclaw was also not expected” says middle-blocker Zuzanna Efimienko. “I hope we will cause some more surprises, but this time with a positive result.”

On Saturday SOPOT will be missing their US American wing-spiker Kimberly Hill who has travelled to Japan to play there for her national team at the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup. This will provide an opportunity for some of the back-ups to show their skills and especially for Klaudia Kaczorowska who played a good game last weekend in Wroclaw. “Well, when someone has a bad day, you get your chance to play and we are always 100% ready to join the game. This is very good” she comments.

“Klaudia is in good shape right now but also Brizitka Molnar is improving. I think that our Serbian player is finally ready to help us” concludes Teun Buijs.
