After a well-deserved break, almost all players included in the roster got together for the first training sessions placed under the guidance of coach Jerzy Matlak, his assistant Adam Grabowski and statistician Adam Malik. Only Australian Rachel Rourke and Brazilian Erika Coimbra are missing as they are still enjoying some holidays in their respective home countries.

Head coach Matlak is trying to exploit the good facilities available there in Sopot to diversify a bit the training sessions, so the players are practicing in the sports hall only in case of bad weather conditions. By the beginning of August the group will move to the city of Cetniewo for a training camp and the club is currently looking for the opportunity to play some sparring matches against other elite teams in Italy or Croatia. At the end of this preparatory stage Atom Trefl will participate in the so-called “Fakro Cup”, one of the most important off-season tournaments there in Poland.

After making it to the 1/8 finals of the CEV Volleyball Champions League last season, the fans and players of Atom Trefl can’t wait for the start of this additional adventure after having been drawn to Pool C of the prelims together with the 2011 club world champion, Rabita BAKU of Azerbaijan, last year’s fourth-ranked MC-Carnaghi VILLA CORTESE of Italy and Czech Agel PROSTEJOV.
