A 39-year-old Polish iconic player said goodbye to the jersey of the national team in an exhibition held in Katowice, in September last year. Now, it is time to completely retire from professional volleyball, as “Sportowe Fakty” reported.

Zagumny began his volleyball career with MKS MDK Warsaw before joining the team from the same city, AZS Politechnika Warszawska. Since Zagumny is the member of this club at the moment, his farewell match will be played at its “Torwar” gymnasium, on April 8 (14:45 CET).

Besides above mentioned teams, the setter has competed with Czarni Radom, Morze Szczecin, Kioene Padova, AZS Indykpol Olsztyn, Panathinaikos Athens and Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle.

On a club level, Zagumny won five silver and four bronze medals in PlusLiga and two trophies in the Polish Cup.

Internationally, the setter collected 427 caps and won gold and silver medal in the FIVB World Championship one-time each, gold medal in the CEV European Championship and FIVB World League one-time each as well. He took part in four Olympic Games (Atlanta, Athens, Beijing and London).

Zagumny has received many individual awards, such as for the best setter in the 2008 Olympic Games, 2006 FIVB World Championship, 2009 CEV European Championship and 2007 CEV Champions League Final Six.
