Even though Paola Egonu is the leader of the team on the court in the current season, VakıfBank don’t intend to renew the contract with an Italian female volleyball star.
News reports from Turkey say that Paola Egonu will leave VakıfBank at the end of 2022-23. Whether it’s because of the “weight“ of her contract or the dissatisfaction with her performance, the Istanbul side allegedly won’t renew the contract with the Italian opposite hired at the beginning of the season. According to Voleybol Magazin, the reigning club champions of Turkey and Europe are in fact preparing an offer to Tijana Bošković, the MVP of the last FIVB World Championship with the Serbia National Team. Her stay at Eczacıbaşı Dynavit is questionable, as said earlier.
The deadline for VakıfBank’s contract renewal with Egonu is March 31.
