The Turkish Volleyball Federation officially announced the departure of Alberto Giuliani as the head coach of the men’s national team. This decision was confirmed through a statement on the Federation’s official website and further elaborated by Mehmet Akif Üstündağ, the president of the Federation, during his appearance on TRT Spor.
Üstündağ remarked, “We had a 1+1 year agreement with Coach Alberto Giuliani, and we have mutually decided to part ways. We extend our gratitude to Giuliani for his dedicated service and contributions.” He also added that the Federation is now in the process of negotiating with a new coach, considering their upcoming debut in the Volleyball Nations League in May and their ongoing aspirations for the Olympics.
Under Giuliani’s tenure, which began in early 2023, the Turkish men’s volleyball team achieved notable success. They won the CEV Golden European League and the Challenger Cup, which propelled them for the VNL 2024. Their journey in the EuroVolley 2023 concluded in the eight finals stage, following a close 2-3 defeat against Slovenia. The Turkish team, still aiming for a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics, looks forward to the upcoming 2024 season with new leadership and renewed aspirations.
