Rumors are swirling about a possible transfer that could see Italian volleyball star Paola Egonu return to Turkey’s Vakifbank, exchanging places with Canadian Kiera Van Ryk, who would head to Italy’s Vero Volley Milano.
According to Serbia’s sports portal Meridian Sport, Egonu’s and Van Ryk’s managers are currently in Istanbul, negotiating this high-profile trade. A move back to Vakifbank would reunite Egonu with her former club, where she shone in the 2022-2023 season, helping them clinch the Champions League.
With Vakifbank’s current lineup reportedly lacking the strength of previous years, Egonu’s return could be a significant boost for the Turkish powerhouse. Paola Egonu missed the start of the season for Vero Volley Milano due to surgery for a nasal infection but is now on the road to recovery.
