ASIAN CUP M: Iran defend the title in Taipei

The 6th SMM Asian Volleyball Cup for Men will be held from August 8 to 15 in Chinese Taipei and Iran will defend the title from the last year.


This year, nine teams are divided into three Pools and they will play Round Robin format. The team with the best score will directly qualify to the semifinals while the other 8 teams will compete in the quarterfinal.

In the previous five competition, Iran won the three while Korea and China one title.

Pool A

Kazakhstan, Japan, Korea

Pool B

Australia, Iran, Chinese Taipei

Pool C

Thailand, Qatar, Vietnam



August 8

Japan – Korea, Qatar – Vietnam, Iran – Taipei

August 9

Kazakhstan – Japan, Thailand – Qatar, Australia – Iran

August 10

Vietnam – Thailand, Korea, Kazakhstan, Taipei – Australia

#1 This is going to be a tremendous year for the Italian League. Every team has made moves to improve throughout the league.
#2 The top 4 are so close that it would not be wise to bet money.
#3 Depth and Roster managment may be the determining factor this year. It that happens , Lube and Perugia are in trouble with so much $ invested in such a few.
