What could we say more about this volleyball superstar? We almost forgot it – hairstyle is his trademark as well. Ladies and gents, one and only – IVAN ZAYTSEV.
How do you rate your performances and achievements in 2015?
“It was a really long and intense year for me, the first half of the year I was still trying to return to my optimal physical shape after the biggest injury of my career. Because of that, I wasn’t able to be satisfied…In the second part of the year, since the World Cup in Japan, it was another story. I was feeling myself more confident…My game returned to me so I can finish this year pretty happy,” admits Zaytsev in an exclusive interview for WorldofVolley.
What are your goals in 2016?
“For sure we will try to keep winning in Russia. I really feel confident about my team Dinamo and I want to try to win the championship and maybe the Champion league. Afterwards, there will be the Olympics…I want to reach the final!”
Do you and your teammates have a plan how to dethrone Zenit?
“Our plan is just to be ourselves. We are a great team and we know each other very well because we’re working together since the last year. We just have to be more concrete in some parts of the match against Zenit Kazan.”
The fans of Dinamo are wondering for how long you will be staying in Moscow?
“I have to finish this season and I have one more year of contract. I’m feeling really good and my family found a perfect rhythm of life in Moscow. It’s a really great and beautiful city. I hope my performances will help me to stay in Russia for several years.”
Do you follow matches of your former team, Lube?
“I’m trying to follow the Italian championship but I’m not so informed about all the detailed things that happening in it.”
The greatest victory in your career is…?
“I think winning the ticket for Rio at the Olympic qualification during the past September. We gave the best to our national team.”
Where do you see yourself in five years?
“I hope I will still in good shape maybe still playing in Russia,the best teams are there and the level of volleyball is amazing…”
What was the best gift that you got for New Year?
“I’m still waiting for it…”
Where will you spend New Year’s eve?
“I still don’t know. Trying to organize something cool with my friends in Rome,” says Ivan Zaytsev, at the end of the interview for WorldofVolley.
