EUROVOLLEY 2017 W: Huge problems for Serbia – 6 players struggle with injuries at EuroVolley preparations

The Serbian Women’s National Team faced with many problems in regard to the injuries of its players during the preparations for EuroVolley 2017.

As Zoran Terzić, the head coach of Serbia, stated, seven players are struggling with injuries at the moment, a bit more than a week prior to the 2017 CEV European Championship in Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Serbia’s main problem is the setters. Ana Antonijević’s doping test was found positive while Bojana Živković sprained her ankle in a friendly match versus Turkey and is doubtful for the Continental Championship.

„At the moment, I have only one setter at the disposal, a young Sladjana Mirković. The situation is really bad, I have many problems. Unfortunately, everything reminds me of London (seven players missed the 2012 London Olympics due to injuries). Even the rest of the girls here have issues with their health,“ Terzić said.

Milena Rašić has been sidelined for a while due to a fractured bone in her foot, Katarina Lazović has a cracked bone in her hand, Bojana Milenković has a hamstring injury, while Brankica Mihajlović and Sanja Malgurski struggle with ankle injuries.

„Still, we need to stay calm, to work the best we can and think about European Championship. Our ambitions there won’t change, we aim for the medal,“ Serbia’s head coach added.

More than that: If a team is a continental champion, like Russia (M) this year, why would they want to compete in one of those world tournaments?? They would know they are already qualified!

Dear Sorin, would you please READ the article properly. The European Championship comes at the end of all qualification tournaments for the Olympic Games, and 2017 European champions (Russia) did not secure their place in the Olympic Games. The 2019 European champions will.

FINALLY – Professional men’s volleyball league in USA will be launched soon!

Many questions :
Stability of league, including financial one – for how long?
Will be here the best players, coaches from all over the world, as is now in leagues in Italy, Brazil, Poland, Russia, if yes when ?
Will be selected the best visible and recognizable ball for TV/internet fans? Will i/they be selected on some independent and complex analyses?
Will matches be on Internet?
Doping control – rules?
Sponsoring – some limitation?
International season – will they fully participate in FIVB projects?
