Davide Mazzanti, the head coach of the Italian women’s national volleyball team, has unveiled his selection of 14 players set to compete in the upcoming European Championship. This prestigious tournament will be co-hosted by Italy, Estonia, Germany, and Belgium, running from August 15 to September 3.
Italy’s first face-off in this key competition will be against Romania, set to take place in the iconic Arena di Verona on August 15.
The roster for the Women’s European Championship 2023 is as follows:
- Setters: Alessia Orro, Francesca Bosio.
- Outside hitters: Myriam Sylla (Captain), Elena Pietrini, Loveth Omoruyi, Alice Degradi.
- Opposites: Sylvia Nwakalor, Paola Egonu, Ekaterina Antropova*.
- Middle blockers: Marina Lubian, Anna Danesi, Federica Squarcini.
- Liberos: Eleonora Fersino, Beatrice Parrocchiale.
*A notable point of contention remains regarding Ekaterina Antropova’s participation. Her inclusion in the team hinges on the timely completion of her Italian citizenship process. If unresolved by the tournament’s commencement, another player will replace her.
