The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has announced a two-year suspension for the 28-year-old Russian volleyball player, Maksim Ivliev, over anti-doping rule violations. Ivliev has accepted the sanctions imposed by FIVB and acknowledged the presence of the prohibited substance, Dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (DHCMT), in his sample collected during an out-of-competition test on November 20, 2013, thereby violating Article 2.2 of the FIVB Medical and Anti-Doping Regulations.
The sanction renders Ivliev ineligible to participate in any competition for two years, effective from April 20, 2023, to April 19, 2025. This disciplinary action is a consequence of FIVB’s ongoing investigations initiated after receiving data and doping test samples from the World Anti-Doping Agency, which were collected from the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory.
Ivliev, who was 18 years old at the time of the doping test, has spent the majority of his career in lower leagues. He made his Super League debut in the previous season with Kuzbass in Kemerovo.
