In an exciting match-up, the women’s senior team of Leixões Sport Club clinched their fifth Super Cup trophy by defeating Sporting Clube de Portugal with a dominating scoreline of 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, and 26-24). Leixões’ Thayná Soares and Marlene Pereira led the game, scoring 22 and 13 points respectively. Liza Kastrup stood out for Sporting, contributing 10 points. Expressing her exhilaration, the Leixões captain, Juliana Antunes, who secured her 6th Super Cup trophy, remarked, “Starting the season with a trophy is an unparalleled sensation. This is a testament to our dedication and the challenges we overcome as a team.”

On the men’s side, the reigning national champions and Portugal Cup victors, SL Benfica (Sport Lisboa e Benfica), celebrated their 11th Super Cup win. They showcased a stellar performance against the AJ Fonte do Bastardo (Associação de Jovens da Fonte do Bastardo), winning 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, and 25-14). With this win, SL Benfica further cemented their position as the leading Super Cup title holder. Their players, Pablo Machado, Felipe Bandeiró, and André Aleixo, were significant contributors, tallying 14, 12, and 12 points respectively. Reflecting on the match, Benfica’s libero Ivo Casas stated, “Our strategy and teamwork were impeccable today. Starting with a trophy sets a positive tone for the season ahead.”
