On the first day of Qualifiers for EuroVolley in the Pool F, Bosnia and Herzegovina surprised Slovenia with a clear 3-0 victory while Czech Republic defeated Latvia 3-0.

With the goal of qualifying for the third EuroVolley (after participating in 2015 and 2019), Slovenia started badly in pool F. They were defeated by Bosnia and Herzegovina 0-3 (23 - 25, 20 - 25, 24 - 26).

Alessandro Chiappini, head coach of Slovenia: ’’I am sorry for the result. I think, we had our moments during the match when we played a bit better. We are a young team, who don’t count on a lot of experience. We are learning day by day, so I prefer that we perceive today as a lesson. Today, we made some errors that we could have avoided. Congratulations to Bosnia, they showed they have experienced players who lead the team.”

''This first game was very hard, very tough. Before the start of this tournament, we didn’t have the chance to play even one friendly game. I was pretty preoccupied to see how things will turn out for us in this game, we started good and after the first set everything was much easier for us.’' says Stevan Ljubicic, head coach of Bosnia and Hercegovina.

In the second match of the day, the Czech Republic needed only 68 minutes to win a 3-0 ( 25-19, 25-17, 25-9) victory over Latvia.

"It was obvious that during the first set the girls where very nervous, but after that, we managed to get back on our feet and I think we played a little bit better than the opponent. We had the chance to use all the players and now we are going to prepare the next game." -  says Ioannis Athanasopoulos, head coach Czech Republic

Pavels Selivanos, head coach Latvia: ”Of course, I am not happy with the result. But I believe the final score doesn't reflect our real capabilities and what we showed.”

GRE W: Suspended Korean player Lee Da-Yeong going to play in Greece

Excited to see Dayeong venture out to an overseas league to grow as a player! Since the Greece league is weaker than the Korean league, it'll be an opportunity to see if she can step up to the plate to lead her team as a setter, while also showing herself to other leagues for future seasons.

The twins were indefinitely suspended after the accusations made towards them about what they did back during elementary school, but they're currently in the midst of a court investigation process to prove that most of the accusations made against them were false (they acknowledged some of them and had apologized immediately & publicly for those).
Once that is resolved - hopefully soon, she should have no issues going abroad.

Heard rumours that PAOK is also looking for a foreign OH, and is looking at signing her twin sister Jaeyeong together with her as a package.
I sure hope that is true and will come to pass as well! Will be additionally fun seeing them play together, and they can rely on one another in a new foreign environment. Reply

VNL W: Preliminary stage over - China put end to USA’s invincibility, 6 players say farewell to Thailand National Team

Bless the Thai players. They share much blood, sweat and tears, many tears. They were robbed of an Olympic birth from an incompetent ref that will haunt them for the rest of their life. Reply
