The majority of the clubs of both men’s (2019/20 SuperLega Credem Banca) and women’s (2019/20 Lega Pallavolo Serie A Femminile) championships of Italy, one of the most attracted ones in the world, voted to end the season. So far, only a temporary suspension was in force.
The two decisions on cancelation were made on separate assemblies after which the letter was sent to the national federation (Fipav) for confirmation, but it seems to be just a formality. It’s left to Fipav to decide on the ground of its rules whether to officially award titles or not.
Unlike the women’s championship, the men’s left the option of restarting the competition “if there are conditions and the appropriate authorizations from the government and health authorities“. In that case, the playoffs would be played, not the continuation of the regular season.
