The Suntory Sunbirds became the Japanese men’s club volleyball champions for the 8th time.

The top-seed Suntory Sunbirds swept no.2 Panasonic Panthers in a single-game playoff final of 2020/21 Japanese Men’s V.League Division 1, held in Funabashi, by a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-20) and won the championship title for the 8th time in the club history.

Just as through the entire season, in which his team had a winnings streak of 23 games at one point, Dmitriy Muserskiy led Suntory in a decider as well. The Russian giant highlighted the match with 28 points. Taiki Tsuruda made 77.3 % reception (11 digs). The Pole Michał Kubiak tallied 13 points for the Panthers, who failed to extend the match to the Golden Set (new rules of the V-League for the post-season).

Suntory won the league title for the first time in 14 years.

ITA M: Perugia focused on bringing Grbić

He signed a 2-years contract with Zaksa last year. He won Polish Cup with them, not sure what happened so Zaksa lost the championship. They kicked out Lube and Zenit from the Champions League and have a good chance of becoming European champion although Trentino didn't win anything this year so this is their last chance.
He started his coaching career with Perugia so everything is possible... Reply

USA M: Russell undergoes surgery in US, will miss Tokyo Olympics

Russell had one of the best sports surgeons in the world work on him so I expect he will be in great hands. While devastating for any athlete Russell is young enough to have both Paris and Los Angeles in his Olympic future at very high level.
Piacenza is building something very special there and Russell is a perfect type of player and professional to attract others to come there and build around.
Wishing him a full and speedy recovery. Reply
